In recent times, most educational institutions are using the Zoom Meeting App for studies and meetings. Today it has become a necessity to teach students through video conferencing applications like Zoom and to organize online meetings for the planning of education and businesses.


But before using this app, it is necessary to know some important factual things.

For the past few weeks, warnings have been issued by the governments of many countries to those using the Zoom app. Some users received threats by hackers or received racist comments from unwanted people.


According to the Indian government, the Zoom App is not sufficiently safe. This is a Chinese app. This app is not protected with end-to-end encryption. Through this app, all the information of the user can be hacked and stolen.

If you are having a meeting or taking an online class through the Zoom Meeting App when an outsider or cybercriminals can hack it completely and can steal information about your meeting or class.

Apart from this, by sending malware, your Zoom Meeting App can also be hacked. If proper precaution is not taken, sometimes there may be a disturbance in your meeting or class, or there may be an exchange of wrong information.

One such incident came to light in South Africa. Here, a woman minister of the country organized a meeting to give information about Coronavirus through Zoom App. The meeting was going well that, suddenly hackers hacked this meeting in the middle and suddenly pornographic photos started appearing in it.

Everyone was shocked and ashamed to see this. Later, the government also had to apologize for this incident. This incident happens to anyone. Today, the business of stealing personal information around the world is in full swing. Therefore, at least if we take care of using such an app, it is good for us.

Avoid common mistakes while using the Zoom app

* While using the zoom app or before starting the meeting, keep changing your ID name and password every time. Try to keep the password as complex as possible.

* It is necessary to enable the option of the waiting room of the app by the meeting host so that every person who attends the meeting, must first obtain the permission of the host.

* Enable Join before host. This allows attendees to join the meeting before the host joins, or when the host cannot attend the meeting. If you select join before the host, then the participants can join the meeting before or without the host. If you do not select join before host, the participants will see a pop-up dialog that says "The meeting is waiting for the host to join." If you are the host, there is a login button to login and start the meeting as the host.

* After all members join the meeting, choose the meeting option

* Do not choose the recording of the meeting in the Zoom app

* When the meeting is over, opt for the end meeting and close it completely.

* Turn off webcam as per rules.

* Manage screen sharing option. Go to the Advanced Sharing option and select the Host option and close the window.

* Use a trusted virtual private network (VPN). This will help in encrypting online activities.

* Secure the router by resetting the default user name and password. Keep secure encryption on, such as WPA2 or WPA3.

* Keep your app updated: Ensure that users are using the updated version of the remote access/meeting application, as many video-teleconferencing platforms have used newer security-related technology in their latest version.

Government of India has also warned

A warning has also been given by the central government of India regarding the use of the Zoom app. The Cyber ​​Co-ordination Center of the Ministry of Home Affairs has issued an advisory regarding the Zoom app.

It has been written that this app should not be used for government work in any manner. Along with this, cybercriminals can steal secret and sensitive information of people and organizations and misuse it.

The Computer Emergency Response Team of India (CERT-In) has also warned that in this context, Zoom uses Chinese servers.

According to Canadian research-related Citizen Lab, at present, more than 90 thousand schools in 20 countries are using the zoom app for the purpose of providing online education to children.

But the e-mail addresses and passwords of about five and a half million users of the Zoom app are being sold on the Dark Web. In the context of how the data of these millions of users was leaked, no disclosure has been made by Zoom to date.


If we use any technique with full precaution, then it will have proper benefits. But if there is any mistake in the precaution, then it may have to suffer. Therefore, precaution is also very important from the point of view of protecting your data.

कोरोनावायरस और सोशल डिस्टन्सिंग के आज के दौर में, कई लोग व्यवसाय का संचालन करने तथा परिवार और दोस्तों के साथ संपर्क में रहने के लिए वीडियो कॉन्फ्रेंसिंग के तकनीक का इस्तेमाल कर रहे हैं, यह आधुनिक तकनीक मनुष्य द्वारा अनुसंधानित वह आविष्कार है, जिसने पूरी दुनिया को नजदीक ला कर रख दिया हैं.

इस आधुनिक तकनीक के चलते हमारे जीवन में आमूलचूल परिवर्तन हो चुका है. आज हम घर बैठ किसीसे भी एक क्लिक पर वीडियो कॉन्फ़्रेंसिंग के माध्यम से जुड़े रह सकते हैं.

पर जब हम वीडियो कॉन्फरेंसिंग का इस्तेमाल करते है तो कुछ बातों का ख्याल रखना जरुरी हो जाता हैं. ख़ास कर तब जब कुछ लोग इसका अपने स्वार्थ के लिए इसका गलत इस्तेमाल भी कर सकते है. इसलिए हमें आधुनिक तकनीक का इस्तेमाल करते हुए एहतियात बरतनी जरुरी है.

कुछ देशों के सरकारें एवं अधिकारी ऐसे ही कुछ वीडियो कॉन्फ़्रेंसिंग ऍप के प्रति चेतावनी देते हुए कहा हैं कि, कुछ ऍप्लिकेशन्स में टेक्निकल ग्लिच के चलते ऐसे ऍप का इस्तेमाल जोखिम से भरी हो सकती हैं.


इस समय दुनिया के सभी देशों में लाॅक डाउन के चलते सभी स्कूल कालेजों में शिक्षा का महत्वपूर्ण कार्य रुका हुआ है. ऐसे में छात्रों का शैक्षिक नुकसान ना हों, इसके लिए करीब-करीब सभी शिक्षा संस्थानों ने ऑनलाइन क्लासेस की शुरुआत की है.

इसके माध्यम से आज छात्रों और शिक्षकों में सीधे संवाद हो रहा है, जिससे छात्रों में पढ़ाई के प्रति एक एक उत्साह का संचार दिखाई दे रहा है. लेकिन इस समय हमें इन बातों पर भी गौर करना होगा की आज उपयोग में लायी जाने वाली तकनीक सुरक्षीत है या नहीं.

झूम ऍप के इस्तेमाल करते समय जरुरी सावधानियां

अभी के समय में ज्यादातर शिक्षा संस्थान पढ़ाई और मीटिंग के लिए झूम ऐप का इस्तेमाल कर रहे है. झूम ऐप के माध्यम से छात्रों को पढ़ाना तथा शिक्षा के नियोजन के लिए ऑनलाइन मीटिंग्स का आयोजन करना आज एक जरुरत बन गया है.

लेकिन इस ऐप इस्तेमाल करने से पहले इसके संदर्भ में कुछ महत्वपूर्ण तथ्यात्मक बातों को जानना अत्यावश्यक है.

बीते कुछ हफ़्तों से ज़ूम ऍप का उपयोग करने वालों को कई देशों के सरकारों द्वारा चेतावनी जारी की गयी हैं. कुछ उपयोगकर्ताओं को हैकर द्वारा या अवांछित व्यक्ति द्वारा रेसिस्ट के तौर पर धमकाना या नस्लवादी टिप्पणी करने की बातें सामने आयी हैं.

भारत सरकार के अनुसार भी झूम ऐप पर्याप्त तौर पर सुरक्षीत नहीं है. यह एक चीनी ऐप है. इस ऐप को एण्डटू एण्ड एनक्रिप्शन के साथ सुरक्षा प्रदान नहीं की गई है. इस ऐप के माध्यम से युजर की सारी जानकारी हैक करते हुए उसे चोरी किया जा सकता है.

अगर आप झूम मीटिंग ऐप के माध्यम से कोई मीटिंग कर रहे है या फिर ऑनलाइन क्लास ले रहे है तो उस मीटिंग या क्लास की पूरी जानकारी हैक कर कोई बाहरी व्यक्ति या साइबर अपराधी उसका गलत इस्तेमाल कर सकता है.

इसके अलावा मालवेयर भेजकर आपका ज़ूम मीटिंग ऐप हैक कर जानकारी भी चुरा सकता है. अगर उचित एहतियात ना बरती जाएं तो कई बार आपकी मीटिंग या क्लास में कोई खलल पड़ सकता है, या गलत सूचनाओं का आदान-प्रदान भी हो सकता है.

ऐसाही एक वाकया दक्षीण अफ्रिका में सामने आया. यहां पर देश की एक महिला मंत्री ने कोरोना की जानकारी देने के लिए झूम ऐप के माध्यम से बैठक का आयोजन किया था. बैठक अच्छी तरह से चल रही थी कि, बीच में अचानक हैकर्स ने इस मीटिंग को हैक कर लिया और अचानक इसमें अश्लील फोटो दिखाई देने लगे.

यह देखकर सब लोग चौंक गए और लज्जित भी हो गए. बाद में सरकार को इस घटना के लिए माफी भी मांगनी पड़ी. यह घटना किसी के भी साथ होती है. आज पूरे विश्व में किसी की भी व्यक्तिगत जानकारी चुराकर उसे बेचने का व्यवसाय काफी जोरो पर है. इसलिए कम से कम हम इस तरह के ऐप का इस्तेमाल करते हुए सावधानी बरतें तो हमारे लिए च्छा रहता है.

कैसे इस्तेमाल करें झूम ऐप का

* झूम ऐप का इस्तेमाल करते समय या फिर मिटिंग शुरू करने से पहले हर बार अपना आईडी का नाम और पासवर्ड में परिवर्तन करते रहें. पासवर्ड ज्यादा से ज्यादा जटिल रखने का प्रयास करें.

* ऐप के वेटिंग रूम का ऑप्शन मिटिंग होस्ट द्वारा एनेबल करना जरुरी है, जिससे मीटिंग में शामिल होने वाले हर एक व्यक्ति को पहले होस्ट की अनुमति लेनी पड़े

* होस्ट से पहले ऑनलाइन मीटिंग में कोई भी जाॅइन ना होने के विकल्प को चुनें
* मीटिंग में सभी सदस्य शामिल होने के बाद मीटिंग का विकल्प चुनें

* झूम ऐप में मौजूद मीटिंग के रेकाॅर्डिंग का विकल्प ना चुनें

* मीटिंग खत्म होने पर एण्ड का विकल्प चुनते हुए उसे पूरी तरह से बंद करें.

* वेबकैम को नियमानुसार बंद करें.

* स्क्रीन शेयरिंग विकल्प को मैनेज करें. एडवांस शेयरिंग ऑप्शन पर जाएं और होस्ट ऑप्शन चुनकर विंडो को बंद कर दें.

* विश्वसनीय वर्चुअल प्राइवेट नेटवर्क (वीपीएन) का इस्तेमाल करें. यह ऑनलाइन गतिविधियों को एनक्रिप्ट करने में मदद करेगा.

* डिफॉल्ट यूजर नेम एवं पासवर्ड रिसैट कर राउटर सुरक्षित करें. WPA2 या WPA3 जैसे सिक्योर एनक्रिप्शन ऑन रखें.

* अपने ऍप को अपडेटेड रखें. सुनिश्चित करें कि उपयोगकर्ता रिमोट एक्सेस / मीटिंग एप्लिकेशन के अपडेटेड संस्करण का उपयोग कर रहे हैं, क्योंकि कई वीडियो-टेलीकांफ्रेंसिंग प्लेटफार्मों ने अपने नवीनतम संस्करण में सुरक्षा से सम्बंधित नयी तकनीक का इस्तेमाल किया

भारत सरकार भी दे चुकी है चेतावनी

झूम ऐप के इस्तेमाल के संदर्भ में केंद्र सरकार की ओर से भी चेतावनी दी गई है. गृह मंत्रालय के साइबर को-ऑर्डिनेशन सेंटर द्वारा झूम ऐप के संदर्भ में एक एडवायजरी जारी की है. इसमें लिखा गया है कि, यह ऐप किसी भी सूरत में सरकारी कामों के लिए इस्तेमाल नहीं किया जाना चाहिए. साथ ही इसके माध्यम से साइबर अपराधी लोगों तथा संस्था-संगठनों की गुप्त और संवेदनशील जानकारी चुराकर उसका गलत इस्तेमाल कर सकते है.

कम्प्युटर इमर्जन्सी रिस्पाॅन्स टीम ऑफ़ इंडिया (सीईआरटी-इन) ने भी इसके संदर्भ में चेतावनी देते हुए कहा है कि, झूम चीनी सर्वर का इस्तेमाल करता है. कनाडा की अनुसंधान संबंधी संस्था सिटीजन लैब के मुताबिक इस समय करीब 20 देशों के 90 हजार से अधिक स्कूल झूम ऐप का इस्तेमाल बच्चों को ऑनलाइन पढ़ाई दिलाने के उद्देश्य से कर रहे है.

लेकिन झूम ऐप के करीब साढ़े पांच लाख यूजर्स के ई-मेल एड्रेस तथा पासवर्ड को डार्क वेब पर बेचा जा रहा है. इन लाखो यूजर्स का डेटा आखिर लीक कैसे हुआ, इसके संदर्भ में आज तक झूम की ओर से कोई खुलासा नहीं किया गया है.

किसी भी तकनीक का हम पूरी एहतियात बरतते हुए इस्तेमाल करेंगे तो उसका उचित लाभ होगा. लेकिन अगर एहतियात में कही भीं कोई गलती हुई तो इसका खामियाजा भी भुगतना पड़ सकता है. इसलिए अपने डेटा की सुरक्षा की दृष्टि से एहतियात काफी जरुरी भी है.
